Some important dates in month of May 2018
8th May – This day is celebrated as Tagore Jayanthi for the occasion of the birth of great poet Rabindra Nath Tagore. He reformed the Bengali literature and Bengali songs with innovative styles.He were awarded of Nobel Prize in literature due to his immense contribution in Bengali literature and especially for Geetanjali. The Bengalis observe the day in special ways with the cultural functions on writings and songs of Rabindra Nath. This day in 2018 will be the 157th birth anniversary of Rabindra Nath Tagore.
10th May-This day is honored as Hanuman jayanthi and celebrated for 41 days. This festival starts on the Chaitra Purnima day and ends on the tenth day of next Krishna Paksha. In Andhra Pradesh, this festival is celebrated specially and the devotees start their Deeksha on the Chaitra Purnima and just finish up on the Hanuman Jayanthi day.
18th May-This day is observed to show devotion to Sri Ganeshji and is termed as Vinayaka Chathurthi. After the Amabasya in every month, the Chathurthi day during Sukla Paksha is observed as Ganesh Chaturthi. This day is celebrated as Vinayaka Chaturthi. This tithi may be celebrated with fasting and worshipping of Lord Ganesa.
22nd May-This day may be observed as Masik Durgashtami on the eve of asthami tithi of this month. The devotees of Ma Durga can worship on the day by long fast.
23rd May-This day is observed as Ganga Dasehrra and falls on tithi of Dashami. This festival is strictly dedicated to ma Ganga as she comes down to earth to swipe away all the sins and to bring the all forms of purity on the earth.
